Brewing beer in South Tyrol

South Tyrol is the land of apples and wine. Many South Tyrolean wines get priced every year for their quality and the tasty apples get exported everywhere in the world.

A shadow existence lives the beer brewing in South Tyrol, even if beer in these parts was always an important drink.

Already many centuries ago in the whole country there were many taverns, which brewed beer. In big parts of South Tyrol there was plant hops and barley, the basics of good beer. The most popular brewery today is the Brewery Forst in Algund. The Forst-beer is known and popular all over the world and is valued as quality beer.

In recent years some smaller breweries grew up. They don’t want to hit the jackpot with, but simple to produce good and quality beer. In the Rienzbräu tavern in Bruneck for example master brewer Alex brews pale ale, light beer and wheat beer. In the Rienzbräu you can eat rustically plain fare from Italy and Tyrol and enjoy a wonderful beer garden.

Also in Vinschgau Valley there is a small brewery in the pizzeria-tavern "Spinni?" situated in Laas. There master brewer Andi brews pale ale and wheat beer, which match perfectly with the own pizza.

If you want to know how they make beer from hops and barley, you can make a guided visit in the two breweries and also taste the quality-beer.
