Homecoming of the livestock

The cows and sheep of South Tyrol spend their summer on the alpine pasture. There the air is fresh and smells like herbs and hay and the nights are starlit. Only in autumn the livestock returns to valley. An event, which nobody should miss.

The homecoming of livestock after a long summer time is a big event, which is celebrated with traditional music and accompanied by many watchers. The celebration is called “Kiahkemma”, if cows return home and “Schafschoad” if it sheep coming to valley. Read here, where and when the homecoming of the livestock will be celebrated this year.
