Delicious pleasure in the forest
Children get blue lips from staying in the water too long and from eating blueberries.
Picking blueberries is fun and delicious at the same time, and also a good activity for a day of rest from walking in the mountains, mountain-bike tours and sightseeing. no stress, no time pressure, only sitting in the forest, having a nice time, chatting and harvesting the sweet blue fruits. At home you wash the fruit and you can mix the blueberries immediately with a natural yogurt or you mix in sugar and lemon with the berries. Freezing the blueberries is a good idea to eat in winter, so you can spoil yourself with the forest flavours’ of summer.
The berry is a fruit of 5-15 mm diameter with a flared “crown” at the top. The season typically runs from the end of June till September. They have a sweet taste when ripe. The easiest way to pick them is to hold your bucket under them in one hand and with the other hand, take a ripe bunch and gently rub them with your fingers. The ripe berries will fall into your bucket, while the unripe ones remain attached to the bush. When the small bucket is full pour the berries into the big basket.
Be careful! Your lips can turn blue, too!
